A very different vintage yet again. A dry warm Spring and Summer meant it was tracking early but a tropical rain event in February which saw 80 mm across the region pushed back harvest dates slightly. The reds appreciated this rainfall. The slower than usual ripening allowed for better flavour development. This allowed for the 2017 Malbec to slowly develop its quintessential black fruit characters and rich flavours. At harvest it was clear the Malbec was in very good condition and there was the potential to craft a wine from this variety alone.
The three barrels showing lifted floral, dark fruits, integrated spicy oak and a long mouth feel were selected.
It’s rare and very good! Enjoy with any mature cheese or a prime cut of red meat cooked to your liking.
